Schools have
always been a
source of pride
in the
Knightstown
area. Charles A.
Beard Memorial
School
Corporation was
founded in 1965.
It serves
residents of
Greensboro and
Wayne Townships
in Henry County
and Ripley
township in Rush
County, an area
of approximately
95 square miles. |
|
The district
operates three
elementary
buildings,
kindergarten
through fourth
grade, one
intermediate
building, grades
five through
eight, and a
brand new high
school building
for grades nine
through twelve. |
|
The impressive
new facility
offers our
students and
staff the
latest
architectural
and
technological
design space,
including modern
fine arts and
science
laboratory
facilities and a
state-of-the-art
auditorium. |
|
Current
enrollment is
approximately
1,400 students
with 94
certified staff
and 107 support
staff. They are
governed by an
elected board of
seven school
trustees. The
student/teacher
ration is low by
city standards,
which ensures
more personal
attention. It is
duly accredited
and offers 20
extra curricular
clubs with an
active student
council, student
assistants
program,
school-to-work
program, job
shadowing, long
distance
learning, cadet
teaching,
advance
placement, 23
vocational
programs, peer
tutoring,
Project Peace,
gifted and
talented,
special
education, DARE
drug program and
academic
competitions. It
is a member of
the White River
Athletic
Conference and
participates in
17
interscholastic
sports as well
as five
intramural
sports programs. |
