Douglas D. Shores - Class of 1960

 
  Services for Douglas D. Shores are 2 p.m. Sunday at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home Lewisville Chapel. Mr. Shores, 60, of
Lewisville died Thursday at his home after an extended illness.
He lived in Henry County area all of his life and was a 1960 graduate of Knightstown High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1997 from Chrysler Corp., in New Castle after 32 years of service. He was a foreman in quality control. He was a past member of Lewisville Town Board, a past member of the Lions Club and a member of American Legion Post 152 of Knightstown. He was born June 29, 1942, in New Castle, a son of Joseph Edward and Ella Jane Armstrong Shores.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Elizabeth 'Beth' Parks, whom he married Aug. 6, 1966, in Coal City, Ill.; three daughters, Kim Shores of Indianapolis, Amy (husband: Jeremy) Spera of Lewisville, and Carrie (husband: Duke) Falck of New Castle; three grandchildren, Destiny Marie Spera, Kirsten Lee Falck and Kyle Douglas Falck; a sister, Jackie Shores of West Palm Beach, Fla., his mother-in-law, Katie Cumming of Venis, Fla.; and two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William A. The Rev. Arthur Whitaker will officiate Sunday’s service. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 137 and VFW Post 1282, both of New Castle. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and prior to services Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Castle First Aid Unit, 1315 I Ave., New Castle. May 29, 2003
