Byron Keith Ray, 71, of Wilkinson
died Thursday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after
suffering a severe head injury from a fall.
He was a Knightstown High School graduate in 1951. He served as
a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean
War where he was stationed in Germany. He was employee at Delco
Remy in Anderson for 46 years. His hobbies included woodworking
and photography. He loved traveling and gospel music. He also
enjoyed working with flowers. He was a member of the Shirley
Masonic Lodge No. 531 F&AM as well as the Indiana National
Percheron Associations. He was a member of the Wilkinson Church
of Christ where he served as a deacon and member of the Joyful
Saints. He was born March 29, 1932 in Grant City the son of John
William Ray and Mary Addison Ray Bolen.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thompson Ray, a son, Rick
(wife: Nicky) of Shirley; three daughters, Sheryl and Penny of
Shirley, Ginger (husband: Scott) of Knightstown; five
grandchildren, Benjamin Elias Eli Ray, Jordan Rebecca Ray, Seth,
Alexis Brooke Atkins and Irina Isabella Ray and a brother Thomas
(wife: Pat) of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Ray and Mary
Addison Ray Bolen.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at Condo and Son
Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Funeral Services will be at Wilkinson
Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Jon Day and Russell
Lutes officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in
