Leslie Ann
Franklin, 51, of Muncie died Tuesday at Ball Memorial Hospital
after an extended illness. Formerly of Knightstown, she attended
Holy Spirit School in Indianapolis and graduated in 1964 from
Knightstown High School. She graduated from Ball State
University and received her bachelor's and master's degrees in
English. She was an ESL (English as a Second Language) volunteer
in the Laubach Literacy program and was a member of Psi Iota Xi
Sorority. A former employee of Blue Cross / Blue Shield in
Indianapolis, she had been a civilian personnel specialist with
the U.S. Army, an English instructor at Ball State University
and a library assistant at Knightstown Public Library. She was
born Aug. 24, 1946, a daughter of Robert Sr. and Mary E. "Jerri"
Chew Ohlemiller. She is survived by a son, William of
Indianapolis; a
daughter, Lysa Franklin of Muncie; a grandson; her mother of
Knightstown; two sisters, Marcia Ohlemiller of Portland, Ore.,
and Teresa (husband: Jon) Brinn of Redding, Calif.; two
brothers, Robert (wife: Linda)Ohlemiller Jr. of Muncie and Kevin
(wife: Melinda) Ohlemiller of St. Louis, Mo.; a niece; and four
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father in January 1997.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Church in
Knightstown with the Rev. John Luerman officiating. Friends may
call 5:30-8 p.m. today at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with the
Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Private graveside services will be held
at Harlan Cemetery near Wilkinson at a later date. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Muncie Civic Theater for the
Leslie Franklin Memorial Fund.
