Cobern Hamilton,
Knightstown High School graduate Cobern Hamilton, 59, of
Carthage died Thursday at Hancock Memorial Hospital in
Greenfield after a brief illness.
He lived in the Knightstown area and was a 1957 graduate of
Knightstown High School. He was a retired aircraft factory
worker in Wichita, Kan., where he lived for the past 30 years
until October 1997, when he returned to the Carthage area. He
enjoyed country music and played in several different bands in
the area. He was born June 15, 1939, in Olivehill, Ky., a son of
Claude and Auderene Richmond Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sally Rhodes Hamilton;
three daughters, Coetta DeWitt of Brownsburg, Teresa Dyer of
Wichita, Kan., and Deborah Goin of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Auderene
Hamilton of Knightstown; two sisters, Janet and Bonnie Rhodes,
both of Knightstown; and a brother, Gary Hamilton of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Hamilton; and a
son, Jon Cobern Hamilton in 1990.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Greene's Funeral Home in
Knightstown with the Revs. Dennis DeWitt and Gene Bennett
officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in
Knightstown. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. and prior to the
service on Monday at Greene's Funeral Home. Marshall & Erlewein
Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Aug. 6, 1998. |
